Thanks. It’s 4:30am here in Munich and it’s taken me 2 and a half hrs to get these two posts up!
This Internet here is a shocker.
Going back to sleep now – have to drive from Munich to Frankfurt in a few hrs,
The autobahns here are nuts – no speed limit. Cars whizz past at 230kms an hr. I sit on 150kms an hr and they go past making me look like I’m standing still!
There is a very good Tokina wide angle zoom for the Nikon DX system – I think it’s the 11-16mm f2.8. It’s about half the cost of the Nikon 12-24, and according to reviews is a better lens.
I’m going to do a separate post on that German roadhouse Donna – it was so damn weird.
It cost €0.70 to use the toilets. In a roadhouse. If you used them, you got a €0.50 voucher for a coffee. But usually you use the toilets AFTER the coffee!
Hi Bill, belles photos, I like the fancy urinals , are they differents from , the ones in spain (I mean for the use )
Bon voyage , have a good trip home, les deux !
Bill,
Wow! Great pictures!!!

Hi Arlene,
Those shots were taken with the Nikon D3200 with the 12-24mm lens.
Small compact and light camera.
It’s got a nice sensor on it, and the lens even though it distorts at the wide end, is still a very fine piece of glass. .

Bill,
I’m glad I purchased the Nikon D3200.
Still have a learning curve though. I’m making my way through “Nikon D3200 for Dummies”. Hope when I’ve finished, I’ll know what I am doing.
Both lenses, the 16-85mm DX and 12-24mm are on my Christmas list!
I’m looking forward to the tutorials on the tour.
Safe trip home!

Hi Arlene –
what lens did you get then?
Because if you haven’t bought the 12-24mm, then I’d suggest something else, depending on whether you got the kit lens with the D3200.
It’s a nifty little camera.

Bill,
So far I only have the kit lens – 18-55/3.5-5.8G VR.
What would be your suggestion?

Hi Arlene,
That’s a good all round lens. 35mm equivalent focal length of 27mm – 82mm.
I don’t think you need any other lens, unless you want to get a wide angle zoom, but that lens is a good solid all purpose lens.

Bill,
I probably would like to take a wide angle along with me on the April tour.
We can talk more later.

Hi Julie,
That phone was in a hotel we stayed in in Porto – like most things in that hotel, it was not in use!

Great photos Bill.
Not that I’ve seen many urinals but that looks like a very fancy one.
I’m very much looking forward to the photographic tutorials on the trip.

Hi Marie –
yes, the urinals were like something out of Kubrick’s A CLOCKWORK ORANGE!
Looking forward to getting home now. It was great to meet up with you and Manoli.
