Damn.
I have to keep blogging.
Thoughts, reverberations, echoes – deeper thoughts, deeper echoes, keep assailing me. Things I didn’t articulate. Things I couldn’t articulate at the time. Things I feel I can now articulate, with a growing perspective.
The further away I get from the Camino, the closer I feel I’m getting to it.
I feel I have more to say – with time, with distance.
So I will post once a week – on Fridays, which is the day I arrived in Santiago.
If you want to keep following, and you haven’t already done so, just become a follower and I guess there’s some way you’ll receive notification of a new post.
The next post will be in a day or so – and then on Fridays.
Also, when I return home I am going to look at turning this into an e-book, with photos. And I will use that opportunity to expand on various aspects of the blog. Blogs by necessity have to short, sharp and preferably sweet.
Mine was short, often sharp, but sweet? I’ll let that one go through to the keeper.
This Camino. It gets into your bloodstream and never leaves you.
Damn.

Glad you are continuing Bill. I have to wait until April to begin my Camino… Your blog keeps me going π Don’t stop man. Yes please to expanded e-book.

Oh my goodness…that’s almost the same saying I used…..accept I describe the Camino as getting into your bones.
I think its all that Camino dust…you breath it in and it becomes part of you.
PS: I’m so glad you will remain in my inbox. Delighted in fact. YAY!!! Best news I’ve heard all day :o)

so very sweet of you Abbey! Thank you. It DOES get into your bones. And it is like an addiction. Actually, I liken it to being bitten by a malarial mosquito, once bitten it never leaves you. But not exactly sure that you can make an apt analogy between an uplifting spiritual experience and a debilitating disease! π But you know what I mean…

Hi Bill, I followed your posts. Please continue blogging! I would like to here in your next posts if, once you will be back home, in witch way ‘the camino’ is having an effect on your every day life. Are there going to be great changes in your life or will you look in an other way at important issues? What will you do with the whole experience? I’m curious….Keep sharing your thoughts!

Hi Els – I think the difficulty will be trying not to slip back into old habits, but I think the changes are more fundamental than that.
Irrespective, I’ll let you know through the blogs.m

Bill, thank you so much for this blog and thank you for deciding to continue blogging. I walked last year and yes it does get in your blood, like I’ve said many times before……once bitten! The Camino keeps giving and calling; for me so much so much so that I have purchased my tickets and will be arriving in Spain on September 16th, just a few short months away to begin walking my second Camino. Oh joy! I was already feeling a sadness and suffering withdrawal symptoms. Glad you get to Portugal and maybe even elsewhere while you are in the area. My biggest regrets from the places I’ve been, are the things I thought I was too busy or too short of cash to do. What nonsense. I hope you’ll include you e-book development when you get that far. I’m interested and I’m sure I’m not alone..

Hi Julie, I’m fortunate with my work right now that I can take this time away – because it’s been an important time to just relax, recover, and reflect on what happened. And what IS happening.
My knee is still problematic, and I’m going to have to get it seen to by a specialist when I get back, but there are other things too – like I lost sensitivity in parts of my feet – they both went numb – and the left foot is taking some time for me to get feeling back.
My boots weren’t too tight – I bought a size bigger than normal – but I think it was just the constant pounding each day. And I did do a few long stretches.
Anyway, these are just minor things. Most importantly, it’s been good to come to a slow gentle stop, as another poster so beautifully put it.
Let my soul catch up to my body…
