A new website ~

I have a new website.

It’s www.billbennett.com.au

It’s been designed and constructed by my wonderful webmeister Natacha, who does all my online stuff. She has a great clarity of design, and user friendliness.

The new website reflects my expansion from film into books – with the first of the young adult trilogy Palace of Fires – Initiate to be published by Penguin Random House in February of next year.

It also lists my upcoming projects, which include my feature length theatrical documentary PGS – Intuition is your Personal Guidance System. 

The website will be updated regularly with news of what’s happening…

  4. Bill — I have something for your to-read list.

    It’s lengthy and complicated, so I’d certainly not suggest getting into it now, when you are so busy ; but I think when you had the time to give it your proper attention, you might find it to be valuable.

    It is a 2003 Vatican document, from the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue, on New Age.

    It’s not a hit piece, and it seeks to present various aspects of New Age in a balanced manner, that’s still of course a fundamentally orthodox Catholic point of view.

    One of its opening paragraphs mirrors something I’ve said to you myself :

    “It should be recognized that the attraction that New Age religiosity has for some Christians may be due in part to the lack of serious attention in their own communities for themes which are actually part of the Catholic synthesis such as the importance of man’s spiritual dimension and its integration with the whole of life, the search for life’s meaning, the link between human beings and the rest of creation, the desire for personal and social transformation, and the rejection of a rationalistic and materialistic view of humanity.”

    It’s a good read — and if you had the time once the workload on the new film lessens a bit, I think it would help you understand that the Catholic objections to New Age are not really based in dogmas nor authority, but rather in the Christian spirituality itself.

    • Hi Julian, thank you, I will read it with great interest. Yes I’m crazy busy at the moment working towards lock off of my picture cut, but very soon I’ll have some breathing space. At the moment I’m taking in my r reading via podcasts or audiobooks, which I consume either in my daily walks to and from the editing room (a three hour round trip) or my 600km trip from Mudgee to Sydney and back again (8hrs). I’m current,y listening to Sam Harris’s WAKING UP – SPIRITUALITY WITHOUT RELIGION. It’s highly intellectual, and consequently hard for me to follow at times 😜 – however he comes T it from an atheist’s point of view largely, even though a lot of the book is about his embracing Buddhism and Buddhist meditation. It’s well worth reading though…

    Yes being mobile friendly is all important these days. As you know I’ve recently completed redesigning my website for the very same reason.

        My name is spelled Arlène but properly pronounced Arlèna. Most people have always called me Arlene, but truth be told I prefer Arlèna. So I have decided to spell my name phonetically in hopes people will pronounce it properly. However, I will answer to both so call me whichever you feel comfortable with.

  7. Bill, I love the new website, especially on mobile. It’s clean and sparse in the best possible way. Makes me want to update our HMS Project website.
    Random question: how long do you wear a Swannies hat before it wears out?

    • haha – you’ll notice Michael that I wear the Swannies cap during our footy season, which starts about now and ends on the last Sunday of September, which is Grand Final Day. And at other times, I wear my Australian Cricket cap. It just so happens that between April and end of September is the best time to walk in Europe! (And I have backup caps too, in case one does wear out!) 🙂
