  2. Hi Bill and Jennifer, please keep me posted on the Celtic Camino. .

So my dear PGS friends, Wednesday, I will board the plane to Lisboa to start my 3 months stay on the Camino. I will not be writing a blog – truth be told I abandoned my blog the last time and I am just not getting the fuzzy feeling with wordpress. I will, if possible, post a pic a day on facebook and probably create some notes (facebook option) to keep my thoughts straight.

I know, some of you are not on facebook, I am sorry, I feel very comfortable with it and most of my friends are socially engaged there.

Not sure how to upload a pic on this blog, I would, just to keep it interesting.

I am, for some reason a bit nervous. Not about the physical aspect of it, but in general. I am not walking a familiar route and as much as I have been studying Bill’s Camino Portuguese and Arlene’s notes and a few other friends that just finished… it is my first time there and unfamiliar territory.

I am very excited about it all, and very grateful to me family to be able to take 90 days away for new adventures.

A little teaser: Lisboa – Sintra. Porto along the coast for a bit, then moving over to the traditional route as far as my feet will carry me, until I catch a bus to Zamora to volunteer as hospitalera from July 15-31. Afterwards, I have about 10 days to do some walking, not sure yet where, as long as I am in Miraz on the Norte by August 12 – 27 for another hospitalera stint. After that, I am walking my beloved Galicia… Santiago/Fisterra/Muxia… maybe some off the route walking along the Costa del Morte and also exploring the C. Inglese. The last few days I will be spending in Madrid/Toledo.

My biggest challenge to date has been my packing. 3 months is a long time and this girl does not necessarily always want to be in her pilgrims cloths… but then I figure, I can buy myself some new digs when necessary. So I have been packing/unpacking/packing.. you all know the drill.

Bill, if you would please, let Marie know that I have lost her contact information and you might also tell her that I will only be on the Norte for my hospitalera stay, not walking any of it beforehand. Miraz is about 4 days walk before Santiago.

As always, I wish you Light and Love. Ingrid

    • Ingrid,
I think we all envy you, getting to “taste” all of those routes. You are going to have such a fabulous time! Have some white port and pardon peppers for us! I don’t do Facebook so will wait until you get back and Bill lets you do a guest post. Buen Camino

Are you getting as excited as I am for India? We are all going to have such a hooly dooly (as Jenny would say) good time. Can’t wait to meet everyone.

          • I think you’re going to find hooly dooly is only the beginning Lynda! Holy moly and a host of other exclamatory expressions are going to be added to the repertoire in India!

We all know that Bill only has sunshine on his tours! No rain! I hope that the term holy moly is not going to be in conjunction with how hot it is over there! We have been melting for several weeks here in Seattle. High 80’s and 90’s and closing in on 100 next week. Not a problem if you have air conditioning but most here do not. Everyone around the world thinks it always rains in Seattle and we let them think that so not too many more move here but right now I’d like a little of that rain!
Wouldn’t it be great to have a PGS/Camino reunion once a year and do a Camino?

          • Hi Lynda – I think sharing lots of expressions is going to be a part of the of the fun on the India tour. Of course there’s Holy Cow! as well, and, not wishing to be disrespectful to the Hindu Gods, it could be an expression you might often use as the cows in India are much revered and often decorated with garlands, paint etc – it sure will be a wonderfully colourful sight!
I hope that the weather breaks in Seattle soon and that you’ll be back to more comfortable temperatures. Saying “Hooly dooly it’s hot”! to friends and family will definitely spark conversation on the weather conditions!
The PGS Reunion is something that I’ve had on my mind for a long, long time. I’ve been on the point of suggesting it to Bill on a few occasions but haven’t for some unknown reason. I’ve thought of a GREAT location which most of us could relatively easily get to – Honolulu. Not the most obviously spiritual of locations at first thought – really built up etc etc – but the Hawaiians have the most beautiful gentle energy and it’s a lovely laid-back vibe there. It’s easy to escape the crowded areas if you want to. We could factor in some walks up to Diamond Head plus walks (and some swims) on the other side of island where the beaches are less busy. Great weather, terrific food and shopping – everything you could want. I have TONS more ideas on Honolulu if the idea grows some legs!
Love to you and Dale –

          • Fantastic Bill ! I have some really cool “Things to See and Do” options for Honolulu which I think everyone would love – not the normal touristy stuff. For example, we could visit the estate of Doris Duke, up near Diamond Head. The home is magnificent – think a smaller version of Randolph Hearst’s spectacular estate at San Simeon – there’s a spectacular collection of Islamic art and the home overlooks the waves … it’s described as paradise in the midst of paradise.
Lynda and I could be Tour Directors if you like!!!

Steve – if you’re reading all your PGS’s I hope that the operation goes very smoothly and that you have a quick recovery.

            Sounds perfect!
Oahu would be great with Diamond Head for some walks or Maui with hiking Haleakala (it looks like craters on the moon) or, or or . . . Hey Bill

          • Hi Lynda – I’ve just posted a reply to your last comment mentioning Seattle and a reunion – it hasn’t come up on the blog for some reason so I’ll wait for a bit and see what happens. It might have gone through to Bill’s spam filter. If it doesn’t come up I’ll do a fresh post later in the day.

    • Hi Ingrid – crikey, it’s getting so close now, isn’t it. I understand your jitters – it’s a daunting prospect, what you’re undertaking, but it’s going to be magnificent. And once you’re there of course, the jitters will disappear. I’ll cut and paste your comment here and send it to Marie – and I’ll keep a watch out on FB – but hey, you’re going to have a blast! We’ll speak again before you go ext week… have a lovely relaxing weekend. Bill

      • Thank you Jenny and everyone. So happy for you that you will be back in Rabanne next year!

Oh wouldn’t it be just so wonderful if Ireland works out. There is a reason why my itinerary changed for this year..I initially wanted to do a Celtics Camino and then take the ferry over to Spain to complete an ancient route. Funny how things work out sometimes.

The best about it all would be that I finally would meet some of you in person. Ireland will never be the same!

        • Thanks so much Ingrid for your good wishes re Rabanal next year. I hope that the Celtic Camino works out for me too – if the length of time between finishing up at Rabanal and the start of the Celtic Camino isn’t too great I’d love to be a part of our PGS group.
You’re so right about how things work out for the best – I really believe that the Universe sets all those jigsaw pieces in place for us in order for us to share and to learn.

  3. Hi Bill –
The Celtic Camino sounds wonderful and depending on when you decide to do the walk, I might be in a position to join you. I’m returning to Refugio Gaucelmo at Rabanal to be an hospitalera once again from August 1 – 16 next year, so I’ll be within coo-ee of you both in distance and dates. I’ll keep watching PGS with interest as your plans are firmed up over the next several months.
Love and hugs to you and Jen –

If Bill and Jen would never have used any of their frequent flyer miles, they could probably turn them in for a roundtrip to the moon and back!. Their daughter indicated in her book, that they have been like this all their adult lives. Travel, travel, travel. I love it! And we all get to go along by computers!
          Jenny how’s the shoulder coming?
