Some homework for India!!

I’ve posted on the Gone Tours website some suggested reading and viewing for those coming on the India tour – the Mother Ganga tour – in September.

India is such a complex country, with customs and religions that most of us don’t understand – so to get the most out of the trip it’s good to know a bit beforehand.

Here is the link:

Also, we’re now having to finalise such things as airline flights, hotel rooms etc. We have eight people confirmed already, but there’s room for more. So if you’re thinking about coming, please get in touch with me – even if you’re not sure at this stage – so that I can hold rooms.

India is the kind of country where you can’t wing it – you can’t do things at the last moment. Flights and train travel, with full names, have to be booked in advance. (We’re traveling by train from Delhi to Amritsar. It should be fabulous!)

So please, let me know if you’re considering the tour –

  1. Thanks, Bill, I’ll add this to homework for a Mahavidya course I’m doing in June and a 7 Island tour I’m part of with Sydney Heritage Fleet. Keeping my brain active and alive!! ๐Ÿ™‚

          • Actually Dale had a better answer Britta. I read him the posts and he said my answer to your question was probably “Dale who?”
Seriously though, I wouldn’t want to trade my husband for anyone else not even Richard Gere!

So that Bill doesn’t think of us too much as “floozies” we should show that we ARE on a quest for enlightenment and knowledge. I think the info you sent me last night would be an excellent addition to the “homework”. You should make a link to it or send to Bill. We are so looking forward to meeting you,Janet, Steve and Jill, Marie and any others in India. My and your part of the above posts were meant to be on the “lighter” side of things but I believe we will have a spiritual tour as well as throw in a little fun. Hey Bill, do you know Richard Gere?

          • Well, Lynda, my contribution via email last night, was just stuff I pulled out from opening up some of the Wikipedia sites that Bill directed us to, so I guess it’s open to anyone to do the same, but like I said to you, I just need to narrow the info down to digestible bites or my brain fries with info overload!! As for the floozie remark, I think I’ll just let that slide ๐Ÿ™‚

          • Britta,
Ooops! I haven’t opened most of the stuff Bill sent yet. Sure wish I would have read all this thirty years ago when my brain still was able to absorb and remember and sort things out. I have read and reread the books you sent and many from the library and still couldn’t tell you much that I have retained. I think it just all boils down to “Be Nice” and nice will come back to you.

          • I wouldn’t worry, Lynda, as I’m sure some of what you’re reading you’ll retain and it’ll come to the fore just as you need it!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Hey Bill,
There’s not going to be a test on this homework is there? If there is can I sit next to Jennifer and Britta as they have been studying this for years!:)

      • I think I’m going to read through some of the stuff once and then just enjoy the journey. Maybe some of your, Jennifer and Brittas knowledge will rub off on me. Much of the trip for me is going to be the beauty of the palaces, temples, people and places we’ll see. (Also I do hope to ride a camel and elephant.) Maybe when I’m there some of the Buddhist or Hindu practices will make more sense or maybe I’ll just understand what I need to at the time!
