    • Thank you Julian!

Quite amazing really that it’s still going.

Thank you for your contributions over this past six months. You’ve helped make it something special.

  1. And you worried about one little disparaging remark! Just a blimp on this amazing blog!! 🙂
BTW finally got around to buying your book today and will now have to claw some time to actually read it. From Sunday will be spending some days at the Mangrove Ashram to help out at a silent retreat they’re facilitating, so hope to get some time for reading there, when I’m not working in the kitchen!!

      • no need to ponder this, it will keep going, in it’s own fashion and be really busy once you are on the CP. And who knows, I might just report more once I am walking again too. 3 months in Spain will give lots to write about. 😉

  3. Bill,

I don’t say much because all these wonderful people say it while I am just thinking about it! I love this blog and am wondering why it is not even bigger! You are a wonderful writer and you have a wonderful heart! Don’t let one jealous person keep you from adding happiness, putting out those thought provoking ideas, or keeping this family together!

that;s so sweet of you to say, thank you.

The reason the blog isn’t bigger is that I don’t actively promote it. I don’t tag, or do search optimisation, or anything like that.

I figure the right people will land here at the right time –

In fact, I might do a separate post on this, just to explain my approach to this blog.

But thank you for saying this – and yes, I’m committed to keeping on writing!!

      🙂

  5. Congratulations, Bill!

I do not presume to speak for anyone beside myself but the attraction of your blog is likely due to your uncanny ability to speak to the heart. There has been recognition of myself in your thoughts while on Camino; some of your insights challenged me. Then there have been the occasional comments that sent my mind down unexplored paths.

All the while, there is a wonderful by-play of equally engaging and charitable minds contributing to an active discussion of each conversational gambit. It is really a delightful experience.

I just wish I could keep up!

Thanks so very much for all that you do on the blog and Forum – it’s such a privilege to be a part of this.

that’s so gorgeous of you to say, thank you!!

I’m hoping that Anne might be able to attend the Nov meeting of the Camino group – however I might have to go to London on Nov 5th for a meeting – and if so then Jennifer and I will then fly down into Portugal and do a full recce of the tour.

I hope that means we won’t miss that November Camino dinner – because I’d love to meet up with you and Britta and Janet again – and particularly if Anne were there!

Re the Camino dinner – it would be fantastic if we could ALL be there but there’ll be other opportunities if you and Jennifer are in London in November. In the meantime, we’ll all have a glass of sangria for you!

        • Hi jenny –

do you know what the date is likely to be?

Because if we do this trip, we’ll probably leave Monday Nov 4th.

If the dinner is the Saturday before – the 2nd Nov – then we could most probably do it.

(that’s if we go, and I’m not sure yet if it’s definite.)

  7. Congrats Bill on a terrific milestone!

Am very pleased that you weren’t deterred and are continuing to write on your blog. It’s not going to suit all of the people all of the time. However it’s your blog and therefore your choice of subject matter. I find your posts inspirational, informative, thought provoking and written from the heart and I love how they engage your blog family in open, interesting, heartfelt and at times amusing communication.

As many have already said – Thank you!

I look forward to meeting Anne and for us all to catch up again at the Nov. dinner. Hopefully it will fall into place – a robust rioja rather than Sangria perhaps?

thank you for your kind and supportive words.

And yes, it would be great to meet up again.

Is the dinner the first Sat of the month? In which case, jennifer and I should be in Sydney on that date.

      • They do alternate month’s lunch and dinner which, when I think about it means the Nov. get together would be dinner on Wed. 6th. Not so good to fit in with your current plans.
Jenny is more up on the dates than I so Jen can you confirm please.

  8. If I’m on the right track with this Bill that would mean December’s get together would be lunch on Sat. 7th.
Nov. / Dec. – either date for you and Jennifer to join us all would be terrific.

Confirming Janet’s advice that December is a lunch meeting and that it’s on the 7th.
If London goes ahead, how long will you be there? Will there be time to visit the British Museum, or is it just whizzing in for your meeting and then straight out to Portugal? The BM is always my first, and last, port of call when I’m there.

            I LOVE the british Museum.

I also love the Tate Modern. And St. Paul’s Cathedral. And The National Theatre…

            Ah, London!

But probably we’ll just be there for a couple of meetings, then heading to Portugal to recce the tour.

London is so damn expensive for accommodation.

            🙂

          • Hi Bill –
Could you justify an extra day so you can do a bit of Museum-hopping?
I agree about the accommodation costs in London being astronomical. If you and Jennifer are ever there for a week our friend John has a one-bedroom flat in a gorgeous old building in Kensington, at Vicarage Gate. It’s a holiday rental but he only lets it out by the week, sadly. Two minutes to Kensington Gardens – Notting Hill is just ‘over the hill’ and the flat itself is fab – looks as though you’ve walked into your Grandmother’s flat – think chintz, velvet and the china display cabinet! Janet stayed there for a week last year and loved it and Steve and I have stayed there since the 80’s.

do you know how much he charges for a week? Because it might be cheaper than some of the hotels we’ve been looking at for 2-3 days!!

            And the location sounds fab!

          • Hi Bill –
John charges 500 pounds sterling per week. The great thing about the flat is that you can do a bit of self-catering if you want to – particularly breakfasts. M&S is just down the road on High St Ken (they have a great grocery store in the basement that has everything you’d need) and Whole Foods Market is also just down the road, also on the High St. Tons of restaurants in the area, including one in the Carluccios’ chain which does a sensational linguine vongole! Plus pubs … you can’t go wrong. If you’re interested I can email you John’s contact details and some photos of the flat.

it sounds like a great deal.

I’ve now worked out the itinerary and we’re only going to be in London 2 nights though.

At the end of the Portuguese scout, we’re going to fly across to Frankfurt and hire a car and drive into Bavaria for a few days, to check out the Christmas celebrations there.

The Bavarians do it in style!

No worries about the London flat … it’s a goodie to keep in mind if you need to be in London for an extended time in the future.
It could be VERY cold in Bavaria … you might just have to have some schnapps!
            Cheers!

yes, if I was going to be staying even 3 nights, then I’d probably go for it.

I’ve just locked in accommodation in a pub -first time I’ve stayed in a pub in London on business.

I’m going to do a post on it soon – thanks to being a pilgrim!
