BTW finally got around to buying your book today and will now have to claw some time to actually read it. From Sunday will be spending some days at the Mangrove Ashram to help out at a silent retreat they’re facilitating, so hope to get some time for reading there, when I’m not working in the kitchen!!

I do not presume to speak for anyone beside myself but the attraction of your blog is likely due to your uncanny ability to speak to the heart. There has been recognition of myself in your thoughts while on Camino; some of your insights challenged me. Then there have been the occasional comments that sent my mind down unexplored paths.

All the while, there is a wonderful by-play of equally engaging and charitable minds contributing to an active discussion of each conversational gambit. It is really a delightful experience.

        If London goes ahead, how long will you be there? Will there be time to visit the British Museum, or is it just whizzing in for your meeting and then straight out to Portugal? The BM is always my first, and last, port of call when I’m there.

        I agree about the accommodation costs in London being astronomical. If you and Jennifer are ever there for a week our friend John has a one-bedroom flat in a gorgeous old building in Kensington, at Vicarage Gate. It’s a holiday rental but he only lets it out by the week, sadly. Two minutes to Kensington Gardens – Notting Hill is just ‘over the hill’ and the flat itself is fab – looks as though you’ve walked into your Grandmother’s flat – think chintz, velvet and the china display cabinet! Janet stayed there for a week last year and loved it and Steve and I have stayed there since the 80’s.

        John charges 500 pounds sterling per week. The great thing about the flat is that you can do a bit of self-catering if you want to – particularly breakfasts. M&S is just down the road on High St Ken (they have a great grocery store in the basement that has everything you’d need) and Whole Foods Market is also just down the road, also on the High St. Tons of restaurants in the area, including one in the Carluccios’ chain which does a sensational linguine vongole! Plus pubs … you can’t go wrong. If you’re interested I can email you John’s contact details and some photos of the flat.

        At the end of the Portuguese scout, we’re going to fly across to Frankfurt and hire a car and drive into Bavaria for a few days, to check out the Christmas celebrations there.
