BTW Steve, one of your “no blister therapy thanx” “fan club” posted on the forum bitching about you LMAO
hmmmm, not exactly the Spirit of the Camino …
…
OK, personally I haven’t had any bad blisters since 1994 ; and my own method of dealing with them that year was to just ignore them, and ignore the pain, and do nothing about them ; til eventually the leather on my feet got wise to my tricks, and got tough.
But the thing is — I’d have shared that story with you to explain my refusal of your help, and listened with interest to your own stories, instead of being rude to your face in an albergue and then boasting about doing so online !!!!
I kind of worry about the fact, if I return to the Camino in 2014, that with my now bad knee, I won’t be able to just outwalk any of the more annoyingly entitled pilgrim groups that one can bump into occasionally …. but of course, No Fear !!! I *know* that the Apostle is there to guide me on my Way …
Still, you made an impression on that guy, and it proves that at least some subconscious part of his own psyche is trying to shake him out of his own self-centred comfort zone …
wow, that’s a huge change, and one I hope to gain as well. I’m going to be walking the camino next spring, and i’m really looking forward to letting go of the fear in so many ways. I’ve really enjoyed what you’ve written about fear and the camino. thank you!

Hi Meghan – thank you. There are so many fears you have to overcome walking the Camino. The biggest fear of all is actually DOING it! But there are little fears each day, such as will I get a blister, will I make it up this hill, will I get a bed tonight. You face them, and they disappear. Simple as that. And if you can take that same attitude back with you when you return to everyday life, well… then the Camino has done it’s job, hasn’t it…
Bill, you HAVE been to that Place!

Well, when I think about it – I’m just now putting everything into perspective. Nothing much matters. Except love. And the way you live your life.

Dear Debra- thank you! It’s just very strange, and something that I never expected would come from a long walk!
But the again, it WAS a pilgrimage…

You are absolutely right Julian about the social consequences – I’m noticing them now!

Yeah, I got that one too.
Not even someone trying to kill me : not that I’ve lost my prudence, nor that I’ve stopped worrying, but fear ? No thanx …
